16th Century German Bollock Dagger – Deepeeka

This dagger with its spiralled grip and medieval gothic styled fittings would have looked right at home at the belt of a German Knight or well-heeled Burgher. The blade is forged from high carbon steel with a diagonal cross-section which tapers to an acute piercing point. The hilt is finely carved wood and the guard plate and pommel cap are antiqued brass. The dagger is paired with a sheath of high quality dyed vegetable tanned leather with an elaborate gothic-styled chape piece in antiqued brass and a leather cord belt tie.

This dagger would have been the height of fashion at its time and a fine display of its bearers wealth, means and status in late medieval society. Though an eminently attractive design its slim blade is quite deadly; the thick diagonal cross section gives the blade great rigidity and stiffness and its thin blade would have been apt at puncturing thick cloth or for penetrating past the weak points and gaps in an armored defense.
