This Sword of St. Maurice has a thick and blunted blade built for the blade-on-blade rigors of stage and sport combat; it is forged from high carbon steel with blade edges that are at least 2 mm in thickness and a thickened and rounded tip for safety.

The crossguard and pommel are crafted from steel and the hardwood grip is tightly overlaid in leather. The sword is paired with a wood-core scabbard that is bound in fitted leather and completed with two brass hanging rings.

Very sturdy and well-made sword with a beautiful and functional design. The blade allows for some flex, but notably less than the average HEMA longsword feder. None of the parts feel wobbly or loose, and everything is straight. The sword came with a generous coating of oil and came securely wrapped. My only complaint is that the pommel shape causes quite a bit of discomfort on the Ulnar area of the wrist when practising without padded gloves. Additionally, I would advise that this sword is quite heavy compared to others such as the Hanwei Practical Norman Sword; there is a lot of mass in the blade, which makes this sword pretty tiring after a while even for people like myself who have been strength training and swinging swords long term (5’8″ male, 195 lbs mostly muscle, to put this into perspective)
