Ronin Katana – Crusader Longsword

$280.00$350.00

This Crusader Longsword by Ronin Katana has a sharp blade of 1075 high carbon steel; the sword tang is durably peened into the hilt for a strong hilt construction. The guard is crafted from steel and the pommel is stainless steel. The wooden grip is tightly bound in cord and stitched leather for a well-fitted grip. The Crusader Cross is etched onto both sides of the pommel.

The sword is paired with a wood-core scabbard which is overlaid in leather and fitted with stainless steel chape and locket. A simple sword belt of leather is integrated and knotted onto the scabbard.

With its wide and sharpened blade this sword is a dependable cutter – the elongated longsword grip gives ample room for leverage to both power through a strike and recover quickly from it.

Kult of Athena Ronin Katana Crusader Longsword Review

Better than i expected. Just got this beast. The only complaint I have is the balance is a little far forward. Other than that it came relatively sharp, the peen is visible but ground down on the pommel to a fine finish, the blade has a nice finish, the fuller isn’t perfectly even but it’s not bad enough to complain about, the grip is comfortable and feels lively in the hand, and the blade has the proper amount of flex. It’s a really nice addition to my humble collection. For the price you can’t beat it.

Not Bad When I first saw this piece on Kult of Athena, I had to have it. When it arrived I was a little disappointed but overall I do like the sword, let me explain. It’s beautiful, well constructed and solid. The blade is beautiful, straight and clean (expect for the protective grease that you have to keep removing for a while). It has a sharp apple seed edge, very nice fuller and no rippling of the blade surface. The fuller does terminate in different places (about 1/8 of an inch different, not terrible).

The hilt is a bit diminutive, cross is shorter and thinner then it looks and the edges are sharp. The grip is thinner then expected and a bit slick (with a glove these problems disappear), also the seem is rough but seems to be holding well.

The pommel is very small but well made and the peen is almost unnoticeable. Larger pommel would cut down on that long POB.

The scabbard is very nice and well made. The locket is cut back well as to not scrape the blade while drawing and very secure as is the chape. The leather is supple and well fitted but again, the seem is rough (this leather would have been nice on the grip). The belt is made of good leather and is sufficient for wearing the sword securely but nothing fancy.

Over all, a nice sword and I’m happy to add it to my collection. Hope this review helped and thanks for reading.

better than expected I was dubious of ordering a sword online and decided to do it after a while ordered this one as my first sword, it’s a sturdy sword, there is very little rattle with the scabbard and it’s a beautiful sword. I was worried about the engraved cross as it looked a little off in the pictures, but they look very nice in person. love this sword

Okay, this review is pretty late, I’ve had the sword over a year. I intended to do some cutting with the sword before I reviewed it, but that still hasn’t happened. I liked the look of the sword in the pictures, and the price, and overall I’m pretty satisfied with the sword I received. The guard is simple but good, and I loke the pommel a lot, in fact it looks better than some of the pommels on Albions. The peen is pretty much invisible, if I hold the sword up to the light and move it back and forth I can sort of see traces of a circle that must be the peened end of the tang, but like I said, it’s practically invisible.

However, one big caveat – the blade of the sword I received is NOT the blade in the picture. It has a much more acute point, almost as acute as their Longsword – Euro Model #2. In fact, if the fuller on that longsword was longer, I’d think they put that blade on the crusader hilt. I still like the sword, but I can see some people being very upset at the blade not being the blade advertised in photos.

Hi Gary – Can you please send photos displaying this issue with the blade shape to orders@kultofathena.com? – Thanks!

Love the sword, great quality. Only disappointment is the scabbard, very loose fit when sword is fully seated. If I hold the sword vertically by the handle the scabbard will fall off. ☹️
