This ‘’Munitions Grade” item is not up to our normal high standards. Munitions grade items will typically have various bends or twists in the blades, basically rendering them as 2nds quality. These items are still a great choice for collecting and re-enacting and functional pieces will still be functional. Please keep this in mind when ordering.

The Celts were early masters of ironwork, and their elaborately crafted swords belie craftsmanship and reverence. Celtic swords were some of the longer swords of this time, a feat when iron was of poorer quality and forges were primitive. The craftsmanship required ensured that swords were an expensive status symbol, and thus many of the surviving swords show that they could be ornately decorated. The Celts seem to have favored leaf-bladed swords which emphasized a greater amount of mass near the striking tip of the blade, ensuring that it struck with the maximum amount of force to lay low the foe. A fitting sword for a warrior culture that emphasized heroic combat.

Well-balanced and quick, this Philippine-crafted Celtic Sword has a sharp blade crafted of 5160/D2 blended high carbon steel. The guard, pommel and ferrules are of darkened brass and the grip is of carved wood. Comes with a wood-carved scabbard overlaid with black leather and brass fittings and rings. The decorative scabbard throat piece is of tooled leather.

Please Note: Due to being crafted in a tropical environment with native woods, it is common for these weapons to develop thin, minor cracks in the wood and the scabbard as the woods adjust to our more temperate environment. Cracks in items sent to you will not be harmful to the structural integrity of the item.

It is recommended that a light coating of oil is used to protect the wood from dryness and cracking.
