The Roman Mainz-Wederath Gladius has a blade forged from hammered high carbon steel; the guard is ornately carved from wood, as is the spherical pommel. The grip is polished bone and the hilt is finished with a brass pommel nut. A brass guard plate is set into the guard to aid in preventing it from splitting from impact with opposing weapons. A removable felt tab at the base of the blade cushions the guard plate from scratching when in contact with the scabbard.

The Gladius is paired with a wood-core scabbard tightly fitted with leather and bound within brass accenting and finished with brass hanging rings.

Good blade for the price but it’s seems a little to weathered Great sword for the price. But iam not sure what happened to it the pommel. It was loose out of the box. The pommel all so looks like it’s been banged up. Looks like it was dropped a few times. Still trying to get it to tighten down the with glue, and by tightening down the pommel nut. Not the quality you woul exspect from Koa normally there stuff is flawless. but iam not sure if that’s the sword or if something happen when it was sharpened. Great job with the sharpening. It’s a same the pommels beat up cuss it’s a beautiful sword.

Great sword vert happy I purchased this item because I have developed a fondness for Roman culture as well as quite a few others but have one gladius already and wanted to get a few other types for my collection. I had heard good and bad about Deepeeka but mostly good about the Deepeeka ancient blades. I wanted get one at judge the quality to my standards. I have to say i am very very happy with the fit and finish of the item i received everything seem tight and well made. I haven’t performed any cutting or hard tests but am happy with the quality as of now and do not intend to torture test. I also want to state that Kult did a great job on the sharpening. I will probably purchase more Deepeeka products in the future as well as sharpening by Kult. Thanks ps i dont give 5 stars to anything nothing is perfect.

I’m giving this five stars because it delivers exactly what it promises to NOT because it’s a perfect sword. There are tons of tiny imperfections (tiny bits of exposed epoxy, small blemishes in the brass, etc.) but as a whole it’s great especially for the price. Only complaints are that there’s a tiny bit of wobble when it’s in the scabbard. Not much but it’s not a perfect fit. Also the sharpening service leaves the bottom 3-4 inches of the blade unsharpened. Not sure why. It’s not a super big deal but definitely keep it in mind. Basically This is probably the best gladius you can get without spending north of $400. And it comes with a scabbard! I’m very happy with my purchase.

Just got mine in (sharpened), and it is very nice, especially considering it was on sale when I bought it. The fit and finish is good, some very very minor blemishes on the scabbard which is a good deal lighter in real life than the pictures they have. The sharpening was good as well, no problems there and the sword fits perfectly in the sheath. I’m not a sword aficionado but this thing looks great and I figured getting the “battle ready” would yield in better quality, which so far is correct.
