This Pickelhaube Cuirassier helmet is constructed from steel and embellished with accents and edging of brass. The top spike is a separate piece which is slotted into place atop the helmet. The interior of the helmet has an adjustable leather liner and is painted black in the dome and green under the brim and nape. The chin straps are leather with brass plates and can be removed entirely if needed. The chin strap can be adjusted to fit with a brass buckle.

Originating from King Frederick William IV of Prussia, the Pickelhaube found its inspiration from the earlier helmets of Napoleonic Cuirassiers. The popular design found wide adoption not only in Germany, but also among fire brigades and police.
