This stage and sport-combat version of the Viking Temple sword has a forged blade crafted from EN45 high carbon steel; it has thick, blunted edges for safety in stage fighting and sparring. The pommel and crossguard of the hilt are of mild steel and the wooden grip is bound in tightly fitted brown leather. The hilt components are fitted to the blade tang with a solid peen on the pommel to give the sword a strong construction.

The sword is paired with a wood-core scabbard overlaid with green leather and a wooden suspension loop finished with a green stain. The scabbard is capped with a steep chape.

The iconic Viking sword, with its broad, long blade with a spatulate tip and a wide blade fuller is actually a descendent of the Spatha – the sword of the Late Roman Empire and the tribes beyond the borders of Rome. This blade style was likely introduced to Rome from barbarian auxiliaries, but the Empire spread it throughout Europe and beyond. A simple, but efficient form, this type of blade lasted well into the Medieval period. Later forms would gently taper the tip over time, but it was the advent of the wider use of plate armor that forced revolutionary redesigns of the double-edged sword of Europe.
