This is the half-wire grip option of the Munich sword. Selecting this option will have the bottom half of the grip tightly wrapped with wire. This sword is inspired by the beautiful long sword in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum in Munich, Germany, that Peter Johnsson has documented thoroughly.

The Munich has a hand ground high carbon steel blade is tempered for flexibility and edge retention. The crossguard and pommel are cast from mild steel. The grip is cord-wrapped wood fitted over with tight leather.

The sword grip comes in a selection of colors, please select an option below. Some like to place period coins, religious symbols or heraldry markers inside the pommel recess. The dimension of the recess are: width: 0.85", depth: 0.292".

I won’t mince words, the Albion Munich (with a half wire wrap) is one of the best swords I own. It handles as nimbly as its profile might imply, but it is no dainty or fragile thing. It is a masterwork of design aesthetics and functional engineering. The weight distribution and balance are such that it can deftly move through guards and strikes, but this sword has sufficient mass to strike with authority, as well as a rigidity and reinforced point to be used as a knightly can-opener. I have large hands, and I had some reservations about the handle of the Munich being too thin for comfort, but once I had it in hand I found the grip to be quite comfortable, and even the wire wrapped section is comfortable for me to use bare handed. This is a sword I consider deserving of my highest praise.
