Crecy was one of the most decisive battles of the 100 Years War. After the battle of Sluys, Edward III landed in Normandy in July 1346 with about 10,000 men. The French pursued. Edward III decided to halt near Crecy in Normandy and to prepare for battle the next day. However, the French vanguard made contact and started to attack without the benefit of a plan. The French made as many as 15 attacks and the English checked each one in turn, primarily thanks to the English longbowmen. In the end, the French were decimated and the English had a decisive victory.

The Albion Crecy War Sword is one type of sword that would have seen service on both sides during the 100 Years War.

The Albion Crecy War Sword features a sharpened high carbon steel blade heat-treated to a fine temper in the Albion Forge Shop. The grip is of stabilized birch, wrapped with cord and covered with the highest grade vegetable-tanned calfskin. The guard and pommel are solid steel.

Excellent I believe I purchased this through Albion. The sword is very clean and well fit. The guard and blade are flush. The handle wrap is tight, and it is comfortable in the hand. The peen is perfect. Balance is excellent. The blade is beautiful. Not a negative, but more of a notice for purchasers that the handle is quite small. The wheel pummel and the size of the handle accommodates two hands , but there is no extra room to play with. Classic cutter, although I have not used it for that purpose yet.

Thank you Kult of Athena for having this unbelievable blade in stock! The 2 year wait time for Albions IS worth it, but with a stroke of luck from your store I only had to wait a few days for the Crecy. What an awesome sword. Balance, fit and finish are incredible. Forty seven thumbs up!

Was really pleased to be able to get my first Albion from KoA and skip the two year wait! The Crecy was on my short list and I am very pleased with the fit finish and handling of the Crecy. Sword shipped quickly and was very securely packaged. Great customer service from KoA!

To me, the Crecy didn’t live up to the hype. Blade was not that sharp out of the box and the edge felt “rough”. It took a lot of work on the slack belt grinder to correct and get the edge smooth sharp. Mine has a red grip and blackened pommel/cross which looks great as a color combination. The downside is the blackening came off onto my hands when I was cutting water bottles and stained the red grip with black blotches and the leather seam of the grip is now has a black obvious seam. I can also see what looks like epoxy up under the cross guard from the handle. Overall, a very attractive sword but in my opinion, my Balaur German longsword (also a type XVIa) at 1/3 the cost outperforms the Crecy.
