Age of Craft – HMB Buhurt optimized Plate Mittens – Christ’s Army with internal padded gloves – 18 – 19 Gauge Tempered Spring Steel

These highly protective and well-articulated plate mitten gauntlets are built for the fast and hard-hitting rigors of HMB / Buhurt Sport Combatand are crafted from 18-19 gauge (1.2 mm – 1 mm) tempered spring steel. An internal suede glove with padding set behind the steel plates gives additional impact resistance and cushioning for the hand. The wide range and easy movement of these gauntlets allow for weapons and objects to be held in a sure and steady grip.

These shell gauntlets have extra plate protection which envelops and caps the tip of the thumb to give this vulnerable digit more comprehensive protection. A band of thick leather is securely riveted in the opening rim of the gauntlets to protect arm armor from undue scratching and damage.

These late medieval gauntlets are based on a 15th century example seen in the Christs Army painting by Jan van Eyck (dated to 1427-1430).
