The axe is an ancient weapon which has delivered volatility through the ages by focusing the concussive weight of its head onto the thin surface of a blade. The Medieval world saw the transition from lighter armors into the highly effective plate armor. Weapons had to adapt, some, such as the sword underwent radical changes. The axe however, needed little alteration, its concussive and cleaving power kept it effective against armor of any kind. This example is typical of the late medieval axes that have a designated handle with protective rondels. It was often used from horseback or as a secondary weapon for archers and crossbowmen.

This single-handed war axe is made in the Czech Republic. The head, shaft and grip are made of high-carbon steel. The pommel and grip rondel are welded into place and the grip is finished with a steel wire wrap. The grip is 5 1/4'' long.

This Axe has good harmonics in addition to its blunt edge, making it good for stage combat.
