The Boar was both a symbol of raw power and fertility to the Celts and is featured on this torc of twisted brass. Its design is inspired by the carvings of the Picts found at Dunadd, Scotland. The torc can be adjusted to size easily to fit the neck. The word ‘’torc’’ comes from the Latin ‘’Torque’’ and is a reference to the twisting of the metal in its design. The wearing of torcs seems to have been a distinctly Celtic practice, as one of the main ‘’Celtic’’ identifiers of the Greek sculpture ‘’The Dying Gaul’’ is the torc on the subjects neck.
