This straight, cruciform-like late 13th Century Medieval Sword has a unique geometric pommel – it seems to have been a relatively rare form and whether it is intended as a decorative style or had a more practical purpose is likely to remain open to speculation. Whatever the intention, this geometric form creates many points on the pommel that could aid in directing concussive force in a pommel strike. The straight form the blade and crossguard lend the blade a knightly personality and the wire-wrapped grip is both practical and aesthetically appealing.

The late 13th Century Sword has an unsharpened blade of tempered Chrome-Vanadium steel with a hardness of 50 HRC. The crossguard and pommel are of steel.

Great product for price The handle is loose, the wire grip slips, and the guard wobbles a bit. But even with these faults, it’s still a great sword. At this price point, the weight distribution, distal taper, and heat treatment are the best available. And seeing as these are made in Italy, it’s to be expected that the wood handle would shrink going from the Mediterranean sea to the foothills of Alberta. Given the opportunity, I would buy this sword again in a second. If you’re going to pick it up, just be away that you’ll have to do some minor repairs and/or maintenance.
