The Nepal Police Service Kukri crafted by differs from its military counterpart by having a broader blade, a rosewood handle and the crossed Kukri emblem on the pommel. Crafted by Ex-Gurkha Khukuri House has a blade of 5160 high carbon steel. The blade has been differentially tempered to make the edge steel harder than the body – this creates a blade that does not dull easily at the edge, yet is soft enough so that it can flex to absorb shock and prevent breakage due to being too hard and brittle.

The hilt fittings are of brass and the grip is of carved rosewood. The companion scabbard is made in the traditional fashion with two carved halves of pinewood and Laha tree gum glue. It is finished with an outer layer of black leather, a brass tip and a belt loop. It comes with a pair of traditional tools and a space for them in the scabbard. These are a Karda utility knife and a sharpening tool, the thicker Chakmak. The two knives match the larger Khukuri by having blades of high carbon steel and carved rosewood grips.
