Designed specifically to defeat heavily-armored opponents, late Medieval war axes such as this carried enough kinetic energy to cleave, or at least batter armored plate asunder. Many, such as this example, sported a can-opening pick on the reverse. Ideal for mounted warriors, a single-handed armor-piercing axe such as this can decisively defeat opponents while leaving a second hand free.

This axe, made by Fabri Armorum, is hand-made in the Czech Republic. It is made from blunted steel with glued leather strips for a grip. It is welded together for strength and the grip is 4 3/4” long. The weapon is guaranteed for two years by the manufacturer under normal stage/sport combat conditions.

Please Note: It is normal for this item to vary in form and finish from the example photographed. Slight to moderate differences are possible in overall shape. The way that the grip is finished in leather can vary considerably. The last photograph shows examples of possible variation – Fabri Armorum considers these to be the same item.
