The Mountain Oni Katana has a blade of sharpened and highly polished T10 steel; the blade edge was imbued with a lively hamon when it was differentially-hardened. This treatment gives the blade a very hard edge with a distinctive, flame-like hamon line, whilst the body of the blade remains softer to impart a degree of shock absorption into blade. The spine of the blade was left solid with no bo-hi groove to retain the full cutting power of the sword. The tip has the elongated form of the O-Kissaki and the tip features a geometric yokote.

The tsuba, fuchi and kashira fittings are iron and the tsuba prominently features a menacing Oni demon with brass embellishments. A meditative samurai hero is on the reverse. The habaki and seppa are brass. The wooden tsuka grip is inlaid with panels of rayskin and wrapped with tightly knotted black silk ito wrap; two brass menuki are fitted within the ito folds.

The saya scabbard is carved from wood and finished with a textured black lacquer and matching, knotted black sageo cord. A black cloth sword bag is included.

Awesome I bought a factory blemished model and there isn’t much viable at all. It looks like polish job was the issue which is no big deal. The fit and finish are perfect, perfect balance and cuts like a dream. I finished off my bamboo with it . These are extrremely well build and worth every penny. You won’t be disappointed

This thing is the real deal! I knew this sword hit different as soon as it came out of the box (which was promptly cut clean in half from the draw). My sensei approved it for use in tameshigiri after inspection and it performed beautifully on tatami. Beautiful sword and just a pure cutter!
