Panay Tenegre

$259.99$289.99

The Panay Tenegre has a swift bolo-like chopping blade of 5160 and D2 high carbon steel with a tempered hardness of 58-60 HRc. A thick spine gives the blade strength and rigidity and its slicing edge has been keenly honed and is quite sharp. The bolster and the top half of the hilt are antiqued steel and the bottom half of the grip is skillfully carved Adaan wood. Included is a scabbard of carved wood with bands of rattan and an antiqued steel spring retaining clip that secures the sword into position with a lock over the guard when sheathed.

This sword with its wide striking region brings substantial chopping power to bear whilst remaining a quick and responsive weapon. Its design hails from the Visayan region in the Central Philippines.

Please Note: Due to being crafted in a tropical environment with native woods, it is common for these weapons to develop thin, minor cracks in the wood and the scabbard as the woods adjust to our more temperate environment. Cracks in items sent to you will not be harmful to the structural integrity of the item. Also – The decorative rattan wrapping can be brittle and may crack or break.

It is recommended that a light coating of protective oil is used to protect the wood from dryness and cracking.
