The Striking Eagle sword is the longest two-handed Chu-style Jian crafted by LK Chen. Such a sword would have to be crafted by a skilled bladesmith and these would have been wielded by warriors who were masters of the sword; with skilled technique even this large sword is deceptively quick and agile and its repertoire of period techniques emphasized quick thrusts that could quickly cover distance coupled with tight, close-in cuts and slashes. This recreation is modeled after the long-bladed double-handed swords used over 2,000 years ago by warriors of the Kingdom of Chu and the striking eagle takes its dimensions from the longest Jian known which was excavated from the tomb of King Zhao Mo.

The finely crafted blade is crafted from folded 1065 and T8 high carbon steel with a hardness of 55-58 HRc and a spring temper. The guard and pommel are fine cast from brass and the guard is an exacting replica of an ancient original with a design in the stylized form of an eagle’s beak. The long grip gives impressive leverage and counter-balance to the long blade and is of wood which is tightly bound in black cord and further overlaid with contrasting white cord. The scabbard is crafted from wood with a lacquered finish and completed with brass fittings.

Please note: Scabbard may some minor cosmetic blemishes such as scuffs and indentations.
