The double-headed war axe is unmistakably a tool for war, not for utility. It has a certain getting down to business appeal that has made it a favorite for portrayals of tough, barbarian heroes or grim headsmen.

This particular double-headed war axe was the axe wielded by Tyrion Lannister at the Battle of the Blackwater in HBOs Game of Thrones. A suitable axe for chopping down tall men as if they were trees.

This double edged battle axe features a blackened steel head with polished edges and a hardwood handle with brass studded grip. Includes leather edge covers.

The axe was well built and sharp. It feels good in hand and the fit is tight. Double peened connecting pins and top mounted connecting cap also adds strength to the build as a whole. The but cap fell off and was only held on with glue and small screws that did not hold.

The only reason this gets 4* instead of 5* is because of the weak and short handle.
I do not recommend using the original handle at all, it is not safe, it’s cheap wood for display purposes ONLY. It broke while I was using it to chop wood (like a barbarian, but still, I’m glad it didn’t ricochet and hurt me).
The blade, however, is freakin awesome as it looks – it’s very strong – it makes a gorgeous ringing sound when it strikes wood – and despite what the ad says about it not being a tool, it absolutely is EXTREMELY effective at chopping wood. Go get yourself a hickory handle at Home Depot and swap them out – then it will be safe to use. You want better leverage anyway because the blade is quite hefty.
The leather covers are meh, it’s stiff leather, whatever. The blade is why you buy it.
And yes. You should totally buy it.
