The Scottish Claymore by Kingston Arms is a powerful greatsword well suited to strong cleaving cuts and hacks. The tempered blade is forged from 9260 high carbon steel. The guard and pommel are crafted from stainless steel and the wooden grip is overlaid in black leather to complete the sword.

Mainstay of the Highland warriors of the late 15th and 16th centuries, the Claymore sword had a uniquely styled hilt that sets it apart from other great swords of the period. Typically of longsword length, this versatile weapon could deliver great sweeping slashes or powerful thrusts. Classic in its design, with distinctive sloping quillons terminating in quatrefoils and a high-collared quillon block with langets following the blade fuller.

The Kingston Arms Scottish Claymore is a refined version of this popular and distinguishable sword. Many reproductions of the Scottish Claymore tend to be bulky, clunky and out of balance compared to originals. The slim grip of the Claymore is leather-covered. The pommel of this Kingston Arms Scottish Claymore in more in proportion and design consistent with historical pieces.

This piece is beautiful and carries the hallmarks of Kingston Arms’ craftsmanship. It’s very lively in the handling and feels like a sword should. Once again, Kingston Arms proves themselves to be a very reliable source of high quality products.

    2. Ryusei

It’s very meh. The factory edge leaves a lot to be desired, and the wood on the grip started to creak/move right out of the box with dry handling. That’s likely due not only to a poor fit of the grip to the tang, but also because this is a VERY flexible sword, bordering on whippy. The good things about it are that it’s light and maneuverable for its size, and the fittings are nicely done. And they’re stainless too, which I’m always a fan of.

Overall, Kingston probably wants to take a closer look at their QC for the grip and edge issues. Once they do, this would be a great buy.

Purchased on another site but I personally love this sword. Fit and finish was really good and everything feels solid. Only complaint is whatever they use to hold the leather to the handle may come off with time. I’ve had mine a few weeks, swinging it around, cutting milk jugs, etc. and noticed a small but of leather parting from the seam. I’m hesitant to say it could be sharper since I cut milk jugs just fine but have trouble with water bottles. This is my first sword of this size so I’m sure I just need more practice with form

    4. Provolone

This sword handles great it’s feels like not too far off from my longswords. It handles great and feels comfortable. It does feel a bit whippy but no too much it cuts and thrust bo problem. The only issue I’ve seen is that the leather on the handle is loose out the box and will have to be glued on again or replaced
