The Model 1917 Polish Saber was the first model adopted by the newly reconstituted and independent Poland in 1918 and these sabers were famously used to great effect in the 1920 Battle of Komar in the Polish-Soviet War where history’s last major cavalry vs cavalry battle saw the rout of the Soviet invaders by Polish cavalry and a halt to the advance of Communism. This reproduction by Universal Swords closely replicates the dimensions and historical markings of an original example from the 1st Lancer Regiment of the Polish Legions.

The blade is forged from 1055 high carbon steel and tempered. Both sides of the blade feature etched filigree and patriotic Polish design. The guard and pommel are finely cast from brass and full of embellishment and design. The grip is wood with a wrap of tight leather and inlaid braided brass wire and the blade is stoutly mounted into the hilt with a nut assembly.
