Tantō, Sai & Other Japanese Daggers

The Japanese are known throughout the world as exemplary knife makers. And there may be no better example of this than the tantō, a common sidearm of the samrai. Created as a weapon primarily for stabbing but with a sharp edge that can slash as well, tantō can vary in length from 15 to 30 cm. Another popular type of Japanese dagger is the sai, a pronged weapon for stabbing and striking that is typically dual-wielded.
