This version of the 15th Century Cluny Longsword is built for stage and sport combat; it has a thickened blade of EN45 high carbon steel with blunt edges intended for blade-on-blade contact.

The hilt has a crossguard and pommel crafted from steel. The crossguard has a guard-chape in a wood form atop the crossguard and it is overlaid in leather. The grip has a core of wood and it is bound in leather cordage and finished with knotted leather bands.

The sword is paired with a companion scabbard of wood which is overlaid with tightly fitted and stitched leather and a steep tip chape. With a long grip for leverage, a counter-weight pommel and a tapered blade profile, this longsword is quite responsive in the hand and quick on the strike.

The original 15th Century sword, upon which this replica is based, is kept within the Cluny Museum (The National Museum of Medieval Art) in Paris.
