Albions Knud sword is based on one Denmarks National Museum in Copenhagen. It is an unusual sword, for despite its early Viking era appearance, it dates to the 11th Century. By this time Paganism among the Vikings was replaced with Christianity, yet this type of hilt seems to have been inspired by the Pagan swords of their ancestors. Perhaps its wielder and creator were looking backwards in time for inspiration at a time when many Scandinavian swords began to look similar to those of the European continent at large. This sort of hilt is not the only example – others have been found in the Baltic region.

The Knud has a hand-ground high carbon steel blade that is tempered for flexibility and edge retention. The crossguard and pommel are cast from mild steel. The grip is stabilized birch wood, cord-wrapped and fitted over with tight leather.

The sword grip comes in a selection of colors, please select an option below.
