Embossed with the insignia and devices of the British artillery and the Crown, this 19th Century Royal Artillery Officers Sword is based on the 1822 Light Cavalry Sword. Its blade though is in the Wilkinson style, which was adopted in 1845 over the older Pipe-Back design. Officer blades of this style for the various military branches were used throughout most of the 19th century and into WWI in all corners of the considerable British Empire, then at its apex.

This replica of a 19th Century Royal Artillery Officers Sword has an embossed, unsharpened blade of high carbon steel. The hilt is of steel and the grip is wrapped with brown leather and inlaid with bands of twisted wire. The wooden scabbard wrapped with brown leather is in the Sam Browne style, which became standard issue in the Boer War and into WWI. It has a steel throat piece, and an integrated, leather strap with a hole for a hanging pin.

cool sword, excellent service This sword was my first purchase from Kult of Athena and my first purchase of any sword.
After 3 months of owning this sword I can say that I am very pleased with my purchase. Sorry for not having the knowledge to write an informed review of the sword’s production quality, but I can say that it seems durable, made of quality materials, and its super cool. I also used Kult of Athena’s sharpening service. They did a very good job of sharpening the blade and, despite the notice of a delay in delivery, still had it delivered within a week to NC.

Good saber but with one flaw This is the best reproduction of a wilkinson style saber in the price range. This is the better version of the other Universal Swords Wilkinson saber, as it is longer and has enough mass to cut. Sill light and fast. This sword gets distal taper right, starting out pretty thick at the base and becoming very thin at the end. It has one major flaw though and that’s the edge geometry. It’s so thick at the edge that it’s difficult to get it sharp without reprofiling the whole blade and ruining the etching. Better for no contact drills than test cutting.

My second purchase from Kult of Athena. This sword is beautiful, and has a good feel. The blade etching is well done, and the sword itself is well balanced and very nimble. The grip is very comfortable in my hand.
