These Clamshell Gauntlets are fully articulated and crafted from 16 gauge riveted steel plates.. They come with a pair of stitched black suede leather gloves. The gauntlets are fitted to the hand by placing the hand within a series of integrated leather bands. The interior of the gauntlets are blackened.

The gauntlets have an integrated metal buckle and a strip of leather that can be used to hold the gauntlet closed for display purposes.

These well-articulated gauntlets give excellent protection for the exterior of the hands whilst giving a minimum restriction to the hand for grasping a weapon. With gauntlets of this type the hand is given a minimum of restriction behind the shell-like shield of a gauntlet.

Please Note: Some of the photos display other accessories which are not included with the pauldrons and are available separately. There are some photos that show the isolated components of this pauldron set on their own for clarity.

Heavy Offer good protection at the cost of heavy weight . I found them clumsy to use with a sword .

Needs Improvement This style of gauntlet is one of the best forms of hand protection that exists for Medieval style training and contact fighting, but these fall short out of the box. Mine would not close enough to offer the protection they are suppose to offer, and they were oddly large…lengthy… I managed to make some modification (through rather unorthodox methods as required) and got them to function. They are unfortunately not ideal. If you have HUGE hands…maybe, but you’ll still have to make serious modification.
