The Classic Medieval Sword is an Oakeshott Type X with a Type I pommel and a Type VII crossguard. The long and wide fuller on this blade lightens the overall sword and makes it possible to deliver fast and shearing cuts capable of cutting through the mail and padding that were worn during the period. The long guard offers good protection from an opponent’s shield or blade while the classic wheel pommel brings the sword very nicely into balance. This type of sword was in service for a long period of time throughout all of Europe. Circa 1300. Features an unsharpened high carbon steel blade with central fuller. The hilt is made of solid steel guard and pommel with a leather wrapped wood grip. Includes a matching leather scabbard with steel throat and tip.

One of the Best Budget Swords Out There Although I haven’t tested it, I am extremely happy with what I have. The sword comes well oiled to protect from rust. From what I have read, the blade is made of an extremely durable material. The handle is wrapped in a relatively cheap leather, but it is definitely functional. It seems well made overall for the price, and I would definitely recommend it!

Amazing sword Awesome sword. I’ve hacked shields to pieces with this. Very good steel. A really great budget sword. Scabbard is okay, but the sword makes up for it. Good clean rivet on the pommel. The tip is pointed. Handle is okay, it would be nice to re-do to make it better. Everything is very well fitted, nothing loose. Would buy another if I needed it.

Simple Perfection Just received this blade in a quick and timely manner from KOA with the sharpening service. Very impressed. Rewrapped the oval handle for a thicker, more secure grip. Tested it out, cuts through water bottles with ease. Weighs around 3 pounds, but with the rewrapped grip is very manageable and somewhat lively. Fit and finish on the sword is more than decent (no imperfections) and I really can’t complain for the price. Scabbard is not wood core, however is quite thick and sturdy and holds the blade very tight and secure, even being shaken upside down. I would make the same purchase twice in an instant. Shoutout to KOA for the same excellent service, products, sharpening, and speedy shipping – Thanks guys!

I had one of these years ago when it was still Museum Replicas, I loved it. It was easy to sharpen myself and then stayed sharp. I used to trim all my hedges and small evergreens with it. Then a friend had to have it so I got another–This was one of several Museum Replicas I owned and all were good steel, didn’t rattle, blades were always ground pretty even, maybe a small grind mark here or there , but a lot of sword for the price. I’ll by a Windlass again in a minute —Kult of Athena is one of my best friends. If there is a problem, they handle it, great company — John H

It’s awesome they got this done as is and kept the cost low enough for ordinary folk. Windlass has certainly helped make some of my money take me farther and I appreciate them for that.
