Overview
Our sharpening service will provide a good serviceable edge on the blade. The result is typically “very sharp” with a small secondary bevel and a bit of an “apple seed” profile. The resulting edge is somewhat dependent on the particular blade. Some blades will take and hold sharper edges than others and the thickness of the blade will determine how wide the bevel will need to be. We adjust the angle of the edge to suit the specific blade and attempt to get as close to a bevel-less edge as possible without marring the surface of the blade.
The Sharpening Process
The sharpening service is done with a belt sander. The process involves many passes with sanding belts of various grits. The blades are rested between passes to prevent them from becoming hot and damaging their temper. By default we will sharpen as much of the blade as possible including any false edges if appropriate. If you have a different preference, feel free to make that request in the special instructions at check out. We can sharpen only the last half or third of an edge, for example. Our sword sharpening expert has personally sharpened several thousand swords at this point, so will provide you with a professional service.
What the Service is Not
The resulting edge will be “sword sharp” not razor sharp. Our goal is to provide you with a usable edge for cutting practice that will hold up to some use and not require constant re-sharpening. In other words, we intend to provide you with a serviceable weapon, not a personal grooming implement. The service will not provide a completely bevel-less edge. To create that type of edge will necessarily scratch up the blade surface and we lack the machinery and time to provide a full re-polishing of a blade’s surface. A service of that nature would be significantly more expensive as a great deal more time would be required. We do not offer this type of service at this time.
Disclaimer
We make no guarantee that the resulting edge will meet with your expectations. Every blade is different and some will take and hold a sharper edge than others, due to the blade material, heat treatment or geometry. Some customers can also have incorrect assumptions about sword sharpness and improper expectations as a result. All we can say for sure is that the resulting edge will be sharper than the default edge, in most cases, significantly so. We can not provide any refunds for the service once it has been completed, so consider it to be provided “as is”. That being said, if you are unhappy with the product for any reason, we do still allow you to return the item for a full refund, including the sharpening costs under our normal return policy. This does not apply to special sharpening requests, for example if we sharpen something specially for you that does not normally list that option on our site. The vast majority of our customers are happy with the results of the service, so as long as you keep the above mentioned in mind, we are confident you will be pleased with the results as well.

LL This is a nice little sword. It takes a good edge and chops very well as it is a stout little blade but still lively in the hand. The only negatives i give this thing is the sheath and the rubber grips. I would give this blade five stars if windlass would just forget the cheap scabbards and put nice wood handle scales on it instead.

I like it Tough little sword. Sharp, light and handy, durable, solidly made, low price, and it looks cool for all that. It’ll make a great Christmas present for my older brother. My only small complaint is the one I received is asymmetrical, The leaf curve is slightly yet noticeably more pronounced on one side than the other. This doesn’t effect the functionality of the blade but I do tend to cut more with the more pronounced edge. I don’t know if this is a windlass issue or from KoA but I would hope to see this fixed for future blades (especially since I might get one of these for myself ;D) Also the sheath isn’t great but it certainly does its job

Review for the stainless version I wanted this really bad back in the day, especially when I found out it was made of carbon steel. I waited too long, and then they changed the steel to stainless. I wasn’t sure if I wanted it after that, but I decided to pull the trigger anyway. I’m glad I did. I got it over the holidays so I haven’t had a chance to do any cutting with it yet. But for anyone (like me) who was hesitant about it because of the switch to stainless, it’s not too bad. It does sharpen fairly easily. The polish is gorgeous. It’s a lot smaller in the hand when you finally hold it, but that’s ok. Once I do some chopping and cutting with it, I’ll come back and update the review. I’m holding back one star because I wish it was carbon, but I may add it once I’ve played around with it. Looks-wise, it’s a beauty.

Mine came last week. I bought this one, the United “combat Commander” and the Devils Edge Damascus Qama. Ok- by way of comparison, this one is shortest, the Devils Edge is longest, and the United CC split the difference. I really like all 3-no doubt. The United CC is thinner than the other two, metal-wise, and lighter. It being 1060 or whatever means it should be plenty tought- I don’t abuse my stuff. But yes- this one is my fave. The Devils Edge is gorgeous- prettier than I thought it’d be. Grip is fine, and the protruding studs on the one side make a GREAT place for your thumb, actually giving you more control of the blade tip. I have several swords besides these 3 “beaters” and I get SO sick of oiling them up. I have one from Zombie Tools, the 2 handed xiphos. I cut the s–t outa my hand, got 40+ stitches(last time I left it outa the sheat- lesson learned), but the wife put it in the scabbard, not me. I forgot about it. Now it’s rusty. It’s surface, it’ll rub-out mostly, n I like it, kinda. Point, though, I this one is stainless. Don’t worry- it’s small enough well tempered enough not to break-least mine hasn’t. Hope all that helped sum1. Buy whichever u like most. You CAN’T lose w/em this low-priced.

I didn’t buy mine from this site. Love the blade. I put it through alot of punishment over the summer. Like every one else the rubber handle sucks. Good handle scale would work better….
