For years, Cold Steel has tried to bring to market one of the devastating Chinese styled hatchets used with such awesome effect in countless Kung Fu movies. The Cold Steel version, the Axe Gang Hatchet, is an authentically formidable weapon, not just a prop for the cameras. It features a drop-forged head, with a differential heat treatment (hard edge-soft body), and a straight, four inch cutting edge (with sharp corners). In addition to that, it has a straight grain American Hickory handle with the Kanji characters that mean ”Axe Gang”. The sharp corners of the edge will easily pierce the thickest skull and the sharpened edge will shear through flesh and bone like it was white bread. Plus due to its substantial weight and straight handle, it’s easy to throw with great accuracy and is sure to explode any target with the most violent effect.

Very nice. I have been debating whether or not to buy this axe for some time, and last month I finally decided to. In my experience, most products made by Cold Steel are hit or miss in terms of quality, although every product that I’ve seen in person (or actually handled) are capable of doing what they are designed to do.

This axe is no exception. Out of the shipping box, I could immediately see that it was designed and constructed just like a standard wood axe, except that it’s modeled after a movie prop. Another thing that I noticed was how heavy it was; for a one handed weapon of this type, this is nearing the limit of what I can handle with a one armed swing. I can’t attest to how well the axe handles when thrown, but I know for sure that this is a real beast in close quarters.

Even better, from the way it was constructed and the materials used for the components, I expect this axe to last through the test of use and time with proper care. If anyone is looking for a decently priced axe of this type, I doubt that there will be many complaints.

Axe gang I enjoyed the king Fu comedy Kung Fu Hustle. That’s actually the first time I noticed the Chinese axe. I purchased one and have messed around with it for a bit. You can use it to chop wood and other chores if you want but why would you? This thing is designed to be a weapon and it excels at it. If you want something to excel at chores then look somewhere else. But if you like Kung Fu movies and their weapons then this is a great replica of the ones in the movies and it is a very good weapon. This axe will chop wood pretty well but that’s not what it was designed for. I enjoy it and plan on purchasing another one.

I go axe a lot, at a place called Valhalla Axe throwing, they have this axe totally stocked up for guests to use. When I was looking for a throwing axe, they highly recommend this axe. So I bought and never regretted it. The place only sharpened it once. It holds a great edge. I have won some competitions with it.
It’s great for both beginners and experts and you can stand at any distance and it lands with great force.
      I highly recommend this axe
