The Medieval Knight Bastard Sword is in a form based upon historic swords from the 14th and early 15th century. The sword has a moderately sharp blade of 5160 high carbon steel – diamond in cross section with a fuller groove in the thicker base of the blade to reduce weight.

The crossguard and pommel are of steel and the wooden grip is wrapped in cord and overlaid with black leather. The sword comes with a companion scabbard of wood with an outer skin of black leather and a protective steel chape.

Light As depicted in the title this sword is very light. I have a Hanwei Shinto Katana and this sword feels lighter in the hand than the katana. I bought mine with the Kult of Athena sharpening and im not disappointed. Its sharper than my Hanwei Antiqued Claymore, and that sword cuts with no issues. The blade is about 2″ longer than my Shinto Katana but thats one thing i like about it. Its incredibally fast and if needed its a sword that I can wield with 1h with no issues. The sword was built incredibly sturdy as in nothing in the handle, pommel, or guard is loose. There is slight play once the sword is fully seated in the scabbard but thats to be expected in my opinion. The scabbard is tighty wrapped in thick leather and holds the sword well enough for me to turn it upside down and shake without the sword even budging. The only thing i dont like is the blade is polished but thats something i knew when i bought it because of the images that Kult of Athena provided. This is a sword i would recommend for a beginner or someone who is used to katanas. If youre used to a long sword then this sword might not be for you, however if you want a sword thats versatile with 1h or 2h, this sword would be a good choice.
