The battle-ready version of the Sword of St. Maurice has a forged and unsharpened blade of EN45 high carbon steel; both sides of the blade have been hand-etched in the recessed fuller with Crosses and other Christian markings. The guard and pommel are mild steel and the wood grip is bound in spiralled brown leather. The blade tang is peened over the pommel to give the blade a strong hilt construction.

The companion scabbard is constructed to have a core of carved wood; it is finished with a tight wrap of brown leather, a protective steel chape and a wooden suspension loop for wear with a sword belt or baldric. No belt or baldric is included.

This sword may not have the same style guard as seen on the large knightly sword in Turin which has been named the Sword of St Maurice, but it certainly shares its notably long and hefty sword blade, as well as its etched iconography on the blade.

Complete BEAST I recently received this sword from KOA and I am very impressed. If you are looking for a light, fast, agile sword this isn’t it. I was drawn to this sword because of its size and it didn’t disappoint. So if you’re looking for a one handed heavy hitter, this is it. This sword feels like it belongs on a battlefield. The fit and finish are pretty rough but everything feels very sturdy. It is very blunt however and will take some serious work to sharpen properly.
