This anthropomorphic Celtic Sword has a blade of forged 14260 high carbon steel and a hilt of finely detailed and high quality cast bronze. It is based on an original grave good discovered in 1902 in North Yorkshire which was found alongside a second sword, a shield and a joint of pork.

The blade has been peened into the hilt for a solid construction. Light and quick, these swords are an excellent example of ancient cultural art being melded with the needs of a practical weapon. Clearly, both its maker and its wielder perceived it as being far more than a mere fighting tool and was something more into the realm of cultural status and perhaps spiritual significance.

Please Note: New versions of this sword often show gap filler in the vicinity of the pommel

I actually own two of these, the second one I bought from this site as a blemished model. The only thing off I could find on it is the blade is shorter than the specs by about 3 CM. This is no big deal for me as it in my opinion altered the balance for the better. Very quick and agile. The steel they use is a spring steel, and it is quite springy, tough, and shock resistant. My first one passed the British Proof Test with no problems. The hilt is composed of four pieces and they are fit so tightly together the sword feels like one solid piece of metal. No rattle or wiggles at all. I’m glad I took the chance on this “blemished” sword as the “blemish” actually improved it in my opinion, and it exceeded my expectations in every way.

And the KOA sharpening service did a great job on it too.
