Adorned with dragonflies, this katana evokes its imagery from the long-revered insect. An older name for Japan is Akitsushima or Dragonfly Island a reference to the swarms of dragonflies that dart about the rice paddies. Inspired by the agile speed of the dragonfly, Samurai named it Kachimushi (Victory Insect). Seeking to capture its qualities, samurai often adorned their armor and weapons with it. In likewise fashion this katana takes its name and imagery from the Victory Insect.

The Tonbo Wakizashi is hand-forged and folded from powder steel. It has a chu-kissaki tip and a bo-hi groove. The differential hardening of the blade gives it a very visible hamon.

The tsuka (handle) is covered with high-quality same(rayskin). The tsuka-ito wrap over the tsuka is premium purple Japanese cotton. The fuchi and kashira (end cap) are black with bronze/brass details. The tsuba is of black iron, with dragonfly detailing in both bronze and gold. Above it is brass habaki and it is surmounted by seppa of brass. The saya (scabbard) is of black lacquer emblazoned with golden dragonflies. The kojiri, koiguchi, and kurikata detailing on the saya are made from polished buffalo horn. It comes with a woven dark blue and black sageo.

Comes with a black cloth sword bag and a maintenance kit.
