This elegant but practical late Medieval or early Renaissance dagger is a replica of a historical example in the collection of The Met in NY. It is a French dagger by provenance, but it major design elements are similar to other contemporary continental daggers seen in central europe – a testament to a popular, efficient and attractive design that could be worn everywhere, both on campaign or around town and homestead.

The blade is forged from C60 high carbon steel which is tempered. The guard and pommel are of blackened steel and the grip is carved wood; a solid peen over the pommel anchors the blade into the hilt. Included with the dagger is a sheath made from thick leather with a matching blackened steel chape and a leather hanging cord.
