The Dussack Knife dates back to Europes early 1600s. Each Dussack is made from a single piece of steel and is clearly a no frills cutting weapon! Because of its simple and functional design, it was favored by commoners, who needed a knife that could be used for a variety of purposes. The Dussack served well for hunting, farm and fieldwork, domestic chores and of course as a fighting knife against enemy attacks.

Solid little sword I received my sword a while ago and it really is a no frills little beast. I was surprised by how heavy it felt in the hand considering it only weighs a little over a pound. It is very blade heavy which isn’t much of a surprise considering there is basically nothing to the handle. I underestimated how narrow the handle was and have found that due to the size of my hand it is very difficult to get a good grip with the handle as is. I’m most likely going to make a grip of my own for it. The sword looks and feels sturdy enough you could use it to hack into just about anything, however with the poor grip I haven’t felt comfortable going full force or doing any serious cutting with it. I won’t mark it down for that though as it is just part of the no frills design. But be warned if you have large hands.

The only real complaint I have is that mine came slightly twisted, not bent but with the alignment of the last third of the blade twisting left. I was able to fix it without much trouble but it was pretty annoying. I would expect with a sword this simple that checking it for small issues like that wouldn’t be difficult before sending it out, that said I guess it is possible it could have happened in shipping(though I’m not sure how). I seem to be complaining a lot but I actually am happy with it, I can’t expect too much for the price and the style of sword (It really does seem more like a farm tool than weapon of war) and I suspect it will fulfill its role as a little work horse cutting tool when I get a grip for it.

A little beast When I first received this sword I was not impressed with the edge, there was a slight twist in the blade showing that this is a hand made piece once I put a very sharp edge on this sword the blade took on a whole new meaning of terrifying this sword is down right scary with a good sharp edge the steel is also very strong I hit the leg of my punching bag stand during some cutting practice witch did little to no damage at all to the edge, overall I am very happy with this purchase it didn’t come with a scabbard I just made one with pvc pipe and wrapped the handle with athletic tape. This sword is a little beast perfect for home defense due to it barbaric look and short size not to mention the swords extreme cutting and stabbing power. Thank you Kult of Athena.
