This Imperial Roman Gallic G Centurions Helm is crafted from 18 gauge steel; it is edged and embellished in brass. The cheekplates are hinged and are fitted with two rings to tie the included leather cord chin strap onto. This helmet comes with a horsehair crest and a transverse brass crest holder – both can be removed if desired. The crest can be tied down and secured through holes placed in the dome rivets for the brim. Leather cords to tie it down are included.

The interior of the helmet is blackened and unlined – included with the helm is a padded cotton arming cap.

The crest placement of this helm can be modified by swapping out the default crest holder for a front to back crest holder (not inlcuded – must be purchased separately). A front-to-back crest can be tied down and secured to the brass hook anchors riveted atop the helm.

This helmet is replicated from an original that was found in the Rhine at Mainz-Weisenau.

The helmet is very well made and looks great. If this review was just about the helmet I would give it 5 stars but there is an issue with the crest so I had to knock off a point. The crest has a piece in the middle with a hole in it for the crest holder prong to sit when attaching it to the helmet. This piece was installed significantly off center so the crest does not sit straight. The piece cannot be moved since it has been glued in place so I will have to make my own piece. It should not be too big of a deal as long as I can find something of the correct thickness. All in all I am very pleased with the product.

It looks great, and is real steel. The hair is indeed horse I can tell by texture. That being said I have several issues with this helmet, 1 there is 0 customization options, this was a issue when I received mine as the ear guards/cheek guards where both half a inch or better too high up, its plainly obviously sized wrong for me. Others wont have this issue persay but theres a chance you could be like me. This for me was a serious issue as I plain to wear this for faires, reenactments and such and it needs to fit well. Also it is very circular, and you may think: isnt it supposed to be? Yes to a extent but not a perfect circle, more slightly oval shaped as our heads are thinner on the sides compared to front to back, which does not help overall appearance or feel of it when dawned.
