This Viking Sword from Deepeeka is one of their newer and more improved designs and features improved distal taper on the blade, making it total thickness more thin in the midsection and end of the fuller which greatly reduces unneeded weight and gives it a more favorable balance. The tip has a raised ridge to give it more durability. The blade is crafted from well tempered C6- high carbon steel (similar to 1060 high carbon steel). The guard and pommel are of sturdy steel and the wooden grip is bound in wrapped leather binding. The blade is securely and stoutly peened over the pommel to anchor the blade into the hilt.

Included with the sword is a wooden scabbard which is finished with a skin of stitched leather; it has a wooden suspension loop by which a sword baldric or belt can be inserted and knotted around the scabbard and reinforced with leather cord bindings.

Very happy with my new sword. Sharpening service did great as always. Overall this sword is a bunch of general improvements to the deepeeka viking sword line. Its lighter than previous models I’ve bought, is more responsive, and still feels incredibly solid to use. The handle wrapping is smoother and more uniform, the pommel straight and firmly affixed. Certainly there are historical innaccuracies but I wanted a viking flavored sword I wasn’t afraid to swing at things with, and that is what I got.
