A note about sharpening Katana and Japanese Blades: We can sharpen katana to make them more sharp. What we don’t do is katana polishing. Your katana will have a visible, but thin angled bevel at the edge. Its edge will be sharper, but it will not be the same as it was when it was new when the spine or midsection of the blade terminated to its cutting edge in a single cutting plane and angle. Our sharpening adds a small, secondary angle at its edge which is visible on close inspection or when reflected off the light.

A note about damascus and folded steels: Damascus / folded steels often need an acid treatment or special polishing to bring out and highlight the patterns made by different steels. This treatment to bring that out is usually only surface deep. Our sharpening erases that surface so that damascus or highlighted folded steel appearance either no longer be visible or will become difficult to see.

A note about blackened blades, epoxy coated blades, blued blades and colored blades: These darkening and color treatments are usually only surface deep for the blade. Sharpening removes that surface finish. A blade with this color treatment after sharpening will have an edge bevel that is bright, plain steel in color and will no longer exhibit these darkening / color treatments.
