This version of the 15th Century Cluny Longsword is built for stage and sport combat; it has a thickened blade of EN45 high carbon steel with blunt edges intended for blade-on-blade contact.

The hilt has a crossguard and pommel crafted from steel. The crossguard has a guard-chape in a wood form atop the crossguard and it is overlaid in leather. The grip has a core of wood and it is bound in leather cordage and finished with knotted leather bands.

The sword is paired with a companion scabbard of wood which is overlaid with tightly fitted and stitched leather and a steep tip chape. With a long grip for leverage, a counter-weight pommel and a tapered blade profile, this longsword is quite responsive in the hand and quick on the strike.

The original 15th Century sword, upon which this replica is based, is kept within the Cluny Museum (The National Museum of Medieval Art) in Paris.

Nice low budget sword Design: + Aestheticaly pleasing – Could be a bit lghter
+ Good balance and handling – The “S” shaped hilt even though nice, sometimes limiting
      + Good blade shape

Quality: + Overally sturdy sword – Blade kind of bends towards one side this can annoy some people
+ Good value for the price – The finnish is sometimes bit rushed especially on the leather circles
on handle where the edning isn’t glued
-A bit other nitpicks but that’s mostly all

I am giving this 5 stars. I rate swords based on the grade of sword they claim to be. Depeeka is not competing with high-cost swords. So it would be odd to rate them in the same realm. Depeeka competes with other low-cost swords. And over the years they have been getting better and better. I have seen the sword in the Cluny museum in Paris that this claims to be based on. For a cheap sword, it does a pretty good job. The balance is good, finish is good, weight is good. It is a two handed sword so you will not be wielding this with one hand. The scabbard is a bit snug. This is for sparring so has no edge and the tip on mine is also not sharp. I got exactly what I expected and was actually surprised it was as nice as it is. If I had to compare this to the Cluny sword made by Albion then it would get 1 star. But again, you cannot really compare a Ferrari and a Honda Accord, yes they are both cars, but they sell to different markets.
