This Gothic-style longsword has a blade forged from EN45 high carbon steel; it has a sharply tapered tip optimized for the thrusting-oriented combat of longswords in battlefields where substantial amounts of plate protection was expected. Unlike some later swords which were only good for thrusting, this sword retains enough width in the blade to ensure it can slash and cut to good effect in skilled hands.

The crossguard with its large, perforated crosses is of steel – as is the pommel. The wooden grip is bound with leather cordage in its top half and a tight wrap of leather in its bottom half. The wood-core scabbard is wrapped in stitched leather and it capped with a steel tip chape.

With a tapered blade and a long grip for leverage, this longsword is both a quick-striking and agile sword.

This sword is actually my first ever longsword, which just came in yesterday. I have yet to cut with it yet, but so far it is very sturdy with just swinging it. The balance is also nice, the weight isn’t that bad as it is a longsword and not meant to be a super heavy weapon. The only mild complaint is I dislike the aesthetic of the guard, but other than that, I really like this blade.

I got this sword a while ago, and I’m somewhat disappointed but it’s not awful. My absolute biggest complaint is the pommel. It seriously hurts my hands to swing this thing, even though it’s not that heavy. It’s very difficult to have it on a belt, but it can be managed. Final complaint is that the edge is poorly ground, but it’s not horrible, and I fixed it with a file and whetstone pretty quickly. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, I would probably say go with something better.

A great long sword. I rate it 4 stars because it’s not perfect, but for the price you shouldn’t expect perfection.

First sword I got from Athena and I have to say I’m really impressed. The handle is like boiled leather and a corded grip at the top half. I was wary at first but when I put it in my hand it felt perfect. Not too big not too small. It’s light and manageable. It can even be wielded with one hand comfortably, for me anyway. I am 6’1 around 230 pounds for scale.

The Pommel is a beaut and the guard lends a Templar look with the crosses on the sides. Really cool if you’re into Templars, which I am.

The blade itself is sturdy yet flexible, you can feel the tang go through the handle. Like a piercing blade it tapers into a sharp point at the end. It is indeed a real sword.

The scabbard is beautiful and the iron tip is a nice finishing touch.

customer service was great and the delivery was impeccable, no troubles or delays at all getting into Canada.

      I only have two issues.

First, the scabbard is insanely tight around the sword. Like it fits like a glove. It’s not a bad thing it’s just difficult to unsheathe quickly haha. Got to work on it I guess

Second was the sharpening. The edge is incredibly sharp but I noticed one side was worn down, only noticeable when you closely examine it. It’s not a big problem.

Overall I’d say this sword has almost no issues with it. Perfect for a first sword or to add to a collection.

I’ve had a few tough swords, this is to be added to the list. It has a simple yet effective design. Will definately be ordering another.
