Hanwei – Renaissance Dagger

This gorgeously detailed Main Gauche from Hanwei is resplendent in Renaissance character and a fine flourish to an ensemble or when paired with a rapier. The stainless steel core hilt is lavishly plated and the well tempered blade of 1566 high carbon steel is forged from high carbon steel and is meticulously perforated to create an elevated blade design to match the hilt. The blade is thick and entirely rigid and functions superbly as a blade that is able to function as the left-hand dagger that can parry and take the shock and impact from a larger sword. As beautiful as this dagger is, it is fully functional and even well optimized for function to match form. The wood grip is intricately overlaid in gilded and braided wire and surmounted by painstakingly applied knotwork. The pommel is not plated but appears to be plain brass.

The matched scabbard is crafted from wood which is fitted with tightly stitched black leather and a chape and locket which are stainless steel which was plated to match.

Please Note: The plating on the hilt and scabbard components is not genuine gold, but is a different material that looks very similar. We are not entirely sure what it is as the Hanwei factory closure has left us without a contact source for verification. But the plating is well applied, well done and in our opinion looks convincing as an imitation gold. The unplated pommel is probably brass but we are unable to verify
