This blunt bladed version of the Landsknecht Emporium Rutger is designed with HEMA or sport combat / reenactment in mind. The blade edges are thick all the way round and the tip is rounded, blunted and also thickened. While the standard Rutger is quite rigid and inflexible, this blunt version has substantially more flex to the blade. The edge section of the blade features an I-Beam cross section that removes some weight whilst allowing for the edge to flare out considerably in order to make it more thick for durability and safety. It is crafted from 6150 high carbon steel and is well tempered.
The hilt matches the standard Rutger in its construction and is every bit as durable in its construction. The barrel nagel is very thick and is peened through the hilt. The tang is very thick and is brass riveted to the polished beech wood grip scales. The tang of the sword is peened over the pommel cap as another point of reinforcement to create a very sturdily crafted sword that will hold up to a great deal of practical use.
Landsknecht Emporium products aim to have the aesthetics of historical pieces, not the finish of mass-produced items. Each product bears the signs of its making; small tool marks and imperfections, which do not affect the build quality or usability but give each of our pieces its unique character. These may manifest in scratches on the blade or finish or small filled and stabilized wood cracks that do not affect durability or structural integrity after having been professionally treated when crafted originally.
