This Katana prominently features the Seiryu – the Azure Dragon who is one of the four guardian spirits and is the Guardian of the East. The sharpened and tempered blade is forged from 1045 high carbon steel and the tsuba is antiqued brass-finished metal. The highly detailed grip is crafted from faux ivory. The sword is paired with a wooden saya scabbard which is finished with a brilliant red lacquer finish, antique brass-finished fittings and a black sageo cord.

This is a nice sword for what I paid. I was searching for a functional Highlander katana and I will say this is far superior to any of the stainless steel Highlander/Dragon head tsuka/handle sold by Marto for $650.00 or the many knock-off copies for $250. Musha uses high-carbon steel with a tang that goes very far down into the 12-inch dragon handle giving it good strength and balance. I dipped my handle in fiberglass and then painted it. After I sanded it was extra strong and appeared to look like antique ivory but its fine out of the box.

Half tang about 2.5 inches glued into the PVC handle ends at the faux jewel. I was determined to make a functional Highlander sword by replacing this blade and tsuba with a good one. This is a display sword and I found a much better one for $99 with a real full tang I could remove. I used this tsuka and made a new tsuba with a Hanwei PPK into a nice Highlander 1 sword.
