The final form of the Polish Military saber that was issued to the Polish Cavalry was the 1934 Pattern. This was the sword in the hands of much of the Polish cavalry during the 1939 invasion of Poland and it remains in military service today as the dress ceremonial sword of the modern Polish armed forces. The sword takes its form from earlier Polish Szabla sabers and refined its form over its predecessors. Despite being a fairly modern sword, you can easily see its ancestry in Polish sabers dating all the way back to the 16th century – a testament to how advanced, evolved and well adapted the form of the Polish saber is as a cavalry sword.
