This Viking sword is a recreation of an original 9th or 10th century sword which was found beneath the remains of a funeral pyre in present day Russia and likely was once a prized possession of a Kievan Rus Viking Chieftain or champion. The broad and powerful cutting blade is forged from tempered 1060 high carbon steel and is etched with an “O” on one side and a cross on the other to reproduce the markings on the original blade.

The guard and pommel are case from fine quality brass and full of intricate Viking design detailing. Like historical originals, the pommel is a two-part pommel which has the blade tang attached and anchored to the pommel base which is then overlaid with a dual-riveted pommel cap. The grip is durable wood which is tightly bound in braided brass wire. The sword is matched with a wooden scabbard which is tightly wrapped in stitched high quality vegetable-tanned leather. The chape is antiqued brass and the integrated sword belt is made from supple and thick leather with embossed knotwork design; the adjustable buckle is crafted from matched Viking serpent buckle of antiqued brass.

Fit and finish is nice. Everything is tight and historically accurate. I opted to not get it sharpened since I really just wanted a display piece, but I’d not be afraid to cut with it. Overall everything I hoped for. Five stars.

Looks like a $500 sword for a great price. The handle/guard/pommel are not as golden as the photo they are more a brass color. Which is fine by me.
I bought the ‘munitions’ grade sword and I was originally worried about the quality since it is not the standard grade, but I’m not worried any more. This thing is a beautiful heavy chopping sword.

I always tought this sword has the look of a spatha with this long blade, small guard and big type D pommel. Afterall, viking era swords were based on roman spatha lol Anyway, its very well made. I just create a video of it.
