All steel Rondel daggers were popular in the late Medieval and Early Renaissance in the German principalities of the Holy Roman Empire. These would have been a popular sidearm of Landsknecht mercenaries and professional men-at-arms of the period with their rugged, practical and “gothically stylish design. The blade of this Tod Cutler reproduction example holds true to historical examples with a very thick and rigid blade that functions as a stiff spike, ideal for penetrating into the weakpoints of an armored hardness as a hand held lever to break through the defense. The blade is tempered EN45 high carbon steel and it is stoutly fitted into a hilt of steel with some contrasting bands of brass latten inlay for a touch of embellishment.

The dagger is matched with a tough sheath of high quality vegetable tanned leather with the finishing flourish of a gothic styled chape piece of well-cast brass.
