Introducing the Signature Series by Windlass! All-time favorites, reissued by Windlass Steelcrafts with several upgrades! For starters, the blade has more distal taper for improved handling and performance, enhancing its agility and making it even more lively in the hand. The blade is forged from better, higher carbon steel which has been well tempered and sharpened. The guard and pommel are resilient steel and the wooden grip was bound in leather which was wet-wrapped and bound in cord and left to dry, leaving a textured cord imprint on the grip to give the bearer a better, more tactile grip. A final, solid upgrade was replacing the older soft leather sheath with a wooden, hard core scabbard which was wrapped in leather and completed with steel accents.

Towton; one of the bloodiest battles in the Wars of the Roses lends it name to this early to mid-15th century style bastard sword. A sword with a sharply tapered profile, the Towton lends itself well to cut-and-thrust use. The tip is well-suited for thrusting and prying into the weaker points of an opponents defense, whilst the blade retains ample width for decisive cutting. The sword can be used both single-handedly or with a two-handed grip and the waisted half of the grip coupled with a scent-stopper pommel comfortably fits the palm of the second hand. This half-tapered form also keeps the grip from feeling clumsy and outsized when in single-handed use. The form of the pommel is also quite suitable as a bludgeon for which to strike the foe, for its shape is similar to a mace.

A versatile blade form for both cutting and thrusting coupled with a hilt that accommodates a range of gripping postures gives many fighting options to the bearer of the Towton. In a skilled swordsmans hands the agile Towton can deftly switch from one to two-handed use. At range the Towton can pierce and cut and should the fight become an enveloping scrum then the pommel and a half-sword grip can be utilized for a tight melee.
